Memorial Union's Der Rathskeller dining room and the temporary Subskeller station will close at approximately 6 p.m. Feb. 28, 2016, to allow for ongoing renovations. Der Rathskeller is projected to reopen in fall 2016.

At the adjoining Stiftskeller, Wisconsin Union staff will continue to provide food and beverage services, including hot sandwiches, to Memorial Union guests. Nearby, in the Paul Bunyan Room, The Daily Scoop team will also continue to offer Babcock Dairy ice cream and an assortment of salads, wraps, snacks and beverages.

Wheelhouse Studios student artist-in-residence Tiffany Ike presents The DROPS Project, an interactive performance art piece, at the Play Circle Theater in Memorial Union on February 11 at 7 p.m. Ike created The DROPS (Discrimination, Race, Oppression, Prejudice, Stereotyping) Project to engage students and the campus community in a dialogue around race relations and the power of words.

The 52nd Annual Hoofer Ski & Snowboard Resale, the largest sale of its kind in the Midwest, will happen this year on Saturday, December 5, from 9 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, December 6, from 9 am to 3 pm in Varsity Hall at Union South, 1308 W. Dayton St.

Local and national vendors bring in skis, snowboards, boots, apparel and related items, coupled with used equipment the public brings in, to produce one amazing sale. Prices are significantly lower than retail.

"They’re going to ruin the Memorial Union Terrace.

They’ll pave it all with concrete.

It won’t be a friendly or usable space.

Ted Crabb heard those complaints and more when he helped create what today is Madison and UW-Madison’s most beloved spot.

The Wisconsin Union's Outdoor UW makes it easy to escape the hustle and bustle of city and campus life and experience a different part of Wisconsin for a night, a weekend or a full week with camping tent rentals.

Four-person Kelty tents are rented from the Outdoor UW office in Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St. Prices range from as little as $6 for one night for Wisconsin Hoofers members to up to $55 for a full week for Union guests. Tents cannot be reserved in advance and are rented on a first-come-first-serve basis. For full pricing information, visit union.wisc.edu/outdooruw.

The Wisconsin Union is again hosting a weekly farmer’s market every Thursday from September 3 through October 22 at Union South from 10 am to 2 pm.

The Memorial Union Reinvestment will be in full swing of the final phases as of Tuesday, September 1. Although part of the building and Terrace will be under construction, the entire west wing as well as several other spaces will be open to enjoy. “MADISON – Most of the colorful, iconic, Memorial Union Terrace chairs are packed away as the final phase of a renovation project gets underway Tuesday. It comes the day before fall classes begin. “MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – It’s been a tradition for years. Wisconsin students, alumni and visitors gather at Memorial Union Terrace for a beer after each home football game.

They’ll have to make new plans. Most of the Memorial Union is being closed Tuesday for some overdue repairs. The facility reportedly hasn’t had a complete renovation in nearly 90 years.” Read More.
