Art

The Wisconsin Union Directorate Art Committee is dedicated to bringing novel and challenging exhibitions to the Wisconsin Union and advancing visual arts in the Madison community.

This student-run committee manages every aspect of exhibitions, from artist selection and installation to art education and marketing. We are responsible for programming exhibitions in the Wisconsin Union gallery spaces. We strive to recontextualize standard approaches to the visual arts through collaborative and innovative exhibitions.

By participating in the Art Committee, you will receive valuable, hands-on experience in a professional gallery setting. If you are passionate about art, you can be part of a team that brings talented artists to the UW campus.

All free events sponsored by WUD Art Committee are intended for UW-Madison students, faculty, staff and Union members and guests.

Union South
A video-based exhibition by Claudia Krogmeier presented by the Wisconsin Union Directorate Art Committee at Gallery 1308 in Union South
A female-presenting person who is reaching towards the viewer, with their hand partially obscuring their face. The image is very pixelated, consisting of geometric shapes rather than a clear image. The image becomes more unintelligible the closer the viewer gets to it. The image is white and green, the same colors found throughout the Union Website.

A mixed-media visual work exhibition by Russ White presented by the Wisconsin Union Directorate Art Committee in Memorial Union's Main Gallery
An artwork of a man crawling out of a yellow parallelogram. Some body parts are abstracted in various colors like red and green, in a scribbly, messy, and abstract way. His leg is only a blue outline, while his torso is hyper-realistic. From Russ White's exhibition, "Somebodies".
