Union South is our south campus living room. The 2011 building includes a 350-seat movie theater; a recreation center with bowling, billiards, a two-story climbing wall, and video games; an eco-conscious hotel; an art gallery; eight dining options; and a variety of meeting rooms.
Union South is also home to Badger Bash, a game day celebration that occurs 2½ hours before each home football game, offering family-friendly activities and performances by the UW Marching Band and UW Spirit Squad.
Sustainability
While the student-led design committee sought a minimum of a silver Leadership award in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating, Union South far surpassed their expectations, receiving a gold LEED rating in sustainability and environmental design. It features sustainable materials and technologies that have a proven track record of sustainability and ensures the facility can adapt over a 100-year lifetime to incorporate new “green” technologies as they become available.

The Plaza: Enjoy a lively football tailgate during Badger Bash, relax & eat lunch or meet up with family after graduation at Camp Randall.
Varsity Hall: Reserve this large hall with adjacent lounge for parties, meetings & conventions.
Reflection Room: UW-Madison students, faculty & staff are invited to carry out structured or unstructured personal reflection or meditation here.
Wisconsin Union Administrative Office: Staff works to make experiences for a lifetime possible. This includes 400+ permanent staff and 1,000+ student staff.
