There is no admission fee - all films are FREE to attend!
No, our film events run on a first come, first served basis. We clicker-count to track capacity. For high attendance screenings, we will utilize paper roll tickets to allow tallied patrons to pass-out and then re-enter the theater. In those instances, you must retain and show your paper roll ticket to re-enter. For the health and safety of our patrons, we have stopped using hand stamps and appreciate your assistance in using the paper ticket method.
Doors open 30 minutes before the film begins.
Since our films run on a first-come, first-served basis, it is difficult to tell whether any certain screening will fill up or not. For blockbuster recent films, sneaks, and various other special event films, we recommend audiences arrive at about an hour ahead of time. For all other films, we recommend audiences arrive about 10-15 minutes ahead of time.
Our films are open to UW-Madison students, faculty, Union members, and guests.
Due to the high volume of people continually interested in our films, we typically do not reserve seats for audience members ahead of time. This also means we do not allow saving seats in the theater or spots in line.
We encourage it! In general, Union South has a wide range of food options, from burgers in The Sett to Marquee Munchies in the Badger Market, and of course, you can find Madison's very own Babcock ice cream at the Daily Scoop. All locations are found on the first floor of Union South.
We love to hear suggestions from our audience and the community! While we cannot guarantee that a suggestion will become a part of our programming, please feel free to send whatever ideas you have to our email: film@union.wisc.edu.
WUD Film does not produce any original films. Our committee is solely focused on programming films for the Marquee Theater and the associated facilitation of our screenings
As part of the Wisconsin Union Directorate, the student programming board for the Wisconsin Union, WUD Film is committed to bringing a wide variety of films to the UW-Madison campus for free. We program a variety of different films a week, seeking to provide a balance in titles and genres. The committee is comprised entirely of UW-Madison student volunteers and a full-time advisor. Students are responsible for booking, marketing, hosting and projecting the films.
Patrons have alerted us that if you Google search "Marquee Theater" you may see blended information that muddles our location with programming information for UW-Milwaukee's Union Cinema. We have been working with Google to try to correct this problem, and those efforts continue. Please make sure to visit our website for the most up-to-date and accurate screening schedule for WUD Film. Thanks for your understanding and patience!
