The Wisconsin Union is the premier place on Lake Mendota to store your sailboat! Outdoor UW is in charge of three mooring fields on the southern shores of Lake Mendota.
- Mooring field #1 is right off the Memorial Union Terrace with 45 pins in deep water.
- Mooring field #2 is north of Goodnight and Vel Phillips Halls with 16 pins in 3-10 feet of water, depending on the exact location and lake levels.
- Mooring field #4 is near the outlet of Willow Creek with 6 spaces for personal moorings (i.e. You must provide your own mooring setup). This field is shallow.

- Mooring Field #2 - $938.00
- Mooring Field #4 - $161.00
We can take boats up to 10,000lb in displacement, depending on location.
Personal dinghy storage is available at fields #2 and #4. Two rowing dinghy tenders are available to renters at field #1 on the Hoofer piers.
Typically, the mooring fields are open for use from May to mid-October, depending on conditions and other factors.
Currently, all vacant moorings are offered to people on the waiting list by random selection.

Crane Operations
Outdoor UW has a 5-Ton capacity crane for lifting boats in and out of the water. The crane can be scheduled for group lift-operations or on one-off occasions. For more information please contact the Sailing Program Manager.
