Wisconsin Union Theater patrons have the opportunity to experience a night of moving and ear-expanding music from leading stars of the new indie classical scene Sō Percussion and Caroline Shaw on Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. CDT online or in Shannon Hall at Memorial Union.

Renowned composer, producer, and keyboardist Cory Henry’s musical journey began at just two years old when he started playing the organ at church. Quickly recognized for his talent, his musical skill grew, leading him to perform at the legendary music venue the Apollo Theater in New York at just six years old.

The Hoofer Riding Club will host an equestrian riding clinic and symposium led by internationally renowned equestrian coach, clinician and author Daniel Stewart in Brooklyn, Wis., Nov 12-13.
Open to all to register, the event offers riders the opportunity to advance their equestrian skills through coaching by someone with 40 years of equestrian experience. Stewart is regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on equestrian psychology, athletics, and performance.

The Tudor Holiday Dinner Concerts will return to Memorial Union’s Great Hall for five nights of holiday music and dining from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. The dinner concerts did not occur in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID-19, so this year marks a return to the in-person, time-honored celebration of warmth, fellowship and history.

A night of musical storytelling through jazz fusion comes to Madison with Midwest-born and raised vibraphonist and composer Joel Ross performing with his band Good Vibes on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. CDT.

The Soweto Gospel Choir will perform a new program, called, “Hope - It's Been A Long Time Coming,” on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Shannon Hall in commemoration of South Africa’s Freedom Movement and the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
The three-time GRAMMY Award-winning ensemble will open the show with South African freedom songs and then move into music of the Civil Rights Movement, including works by artists James Brown, Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin.

The University of Wisconsin‒Madison Homecoming lineup has expanded with a Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Music Committee and Wisconsin Homecoming Committee-hosted kickoff concert featuring up-and-coming indie pop band Alvvays with an opening performance by Madison-born band Slow Pulp, a night of free recreation and games at Union South, and more.

Making its return for a second year, the Outdoor Explorer Series by Outdoor UW has begun again providing low-cost educational events throughout the year, including a brand new introductory course on car camping.
