The Wisconsin Union team will reopen the central core and east wing of floors two through four in Memorial Union on Sept. 15, marking the completion of the Union’s more than five-year restoration effort, known as the Memorial Union Reinvestment (MUR).
The central and east portions include treasured gathering places and versatile meeting rooms, such as Main Lounge, Great Hall and Tripp Commons.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee together with campus partners and the friends and family of University of Wisconsin-Madison alumnus Leon Varjian invite the Madison community to celebrate an exhibition honoring Varjian’s legacy as the “Clown Prince of Madison” at the Fredric March Play Circle Theater May 6.
The exhibition opening ceremony will take place at 4 p.m., and the exhibition unveiling and reception will occur at 5 p.m.
The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee will host an opening reception for its “FIRST 100 DAYS” exhibition on April 29 at noon in Union South’s Gallery 1308.
The exhibition will feature works reflecting artists’ perspectives on President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office.
All displayed pieces come from artists throughout the greater Madison area. The collection will include many of types of works, including visual art and poetry.
The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art and Film Committees will showcase a gender and politics video art history exhibition on April 13 in Union’s South’s Marquee Cinema.
The committees’ student leaders selected films that focus on gender, politics, and how both relate to how society functions.
Committee members chose multiple films for this exhibition included but not limited to “An I For An I” by Lawrence Andrews and “Perfect Leader” by Max Almy. Together, the exhibition’s films will showcase 40 years of video art.
The Wisconsin Union invites UW-Madison students and the campus community to ring in the opening of the Memorial Union Terrace by bringing the iconic orange, yellow and green sunburst chairs back onto the Terrace on April 13 at 3 p.m.
This annual tradition of bringing out the chairs marks the first day of Terrace season, an important milestone in the spring calendar for many on campus and in the community.
The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) awarded Wisconsin Union Director Mark Guthier the prestigious Butts-Whiting Award on March 22. The award recognizes and honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the college union and student activities movement.

Noticeably missing will be construction nearby on Memorial Union’s first floor, which opened in December 2016 and will be open this Terrace season.

The exhibition will feature artwork that portrays artists’ reactions to President Donald J. Trump’s first 100 days in office.
The common practice of assessing a U.S. president’s performance after 100 days of presidency inspired WUD Art to create this exhibit. Committee members believe the artwork will provide community members an opportunity to reflect upon and discuss the current political climate.
The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee invites writers and visual artists in the Greater Dane County area to submit their applications for the Committee’s bus art project, called “Art En Route”.
“Art En Route” will feature uniquely commissioned collaborative works as exterior bus wraps featured on various Madison Metro buses.
A panel made up of WUD Art Committee members and other members of the Madison art community will select eight literary artists and eight visual artists to participate in this project.
The Wisconsin Hoofer Alpine Ski Team recently qualified for the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships, which begins on March 7 at Mount Bachelor near Bend, Ore.
