The Wisconsin Union’s Badger Market in Union South has received approval from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The Hoofers Winter Carnival will return Feb. 3-11 with everything from ice golf on Lake Mendota to the Hoofer Rail Jam, a snowboard and ski competition.

Original art pieces have debuted above waste bins at Union South with the goal of improving visitors’ waste disposal practices.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee’s “Art En Route” art project debut on Oct. 1 with eight pieces of art displayed on eight Madison Transit buses until Jan. 1, 2018, and will celebrate the project’s debut at an opening reception Oct 7 at 2 p.m. in Gallery 1308 at Union South.

Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) Committee announces its fall speaker lineup, which will kickoff with a lecture by filmmaker Charles Burnett.

Burnett is a MacArthur Fellow and honorary Academy Award winner. His work explores race, gender, and class in America. He is best known for his films "Killer of Sheep" (1978) and "To Sleep with Anger" (1990).

Work has begun on the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee’s “Art En Route” project after final artist selection.

“Art En Route” has paired eight creative writers with eight visual artists to create collaborative works that will be photographed and installed on the exterior wraps of various Madison Metro Transit buses from Oct. 1, 2017, until Jan. 20, 2018.

WUD Art Committee members and Madison art community members chose artists from the greater Dane County to participate in this innovative project.

The Wisconsin Union team will reopen the central core and east wing of floors two through four in Memorial Union on Sept. 15, marking the completion of the Union’s more than five-year restoration effort, known as the Memorial Union Reinvestment (MUR).

The central and east portions include treasured gathering places and versatile meeting rooms, such as Main Lounge, Great Hall and Tripp Commons.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee together with campus partners and the friends and family of University of Wisconsin-Madison alumnus Leon Varjian invite the Madison community to celebrate an exhibition honoring Varjian’s legacy as the “Clown Prince of Madison” at the Fredric March Play Circle Theater May 6.

The exhibition opening ceremony will take place at 4 p.m., and the exhibition unveiling and reception will occur at 5 p.m.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee will host an opening reception for its “FIRST 100 DAYS” exhibition on April 29 at noon in Union South’s Gallery 1308.

The exhibition will feature works reflecting artists’ perspectives on President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office.

All displayed pieces come from artists throughout the greater Madison area. The collection will include many of types of works, including visual art and poetry.
