  • It’s true that the Wisconsin Union is a membership organization, but anyone can visit with a day, annual or lifetime membership. You can learn more about lifetime and annual membership here or purchase a $1 one-day membership at Memorial Union restaurants and cafés.

  • The Terrace will be open during Memorial Union hours. For the most current hours, click here.

  • Indoor restrooms are available throughout Memorial Union, including on the first floor.

  • We do have a variety of different dining options right on site. Learn more at union.wisc.edu/dine. Your purchases support student leadership opportunities at the Wisconsin Union. We don't receive taxpayer dollars, so your support is critical to the continuation of the Terrace. If you do choose to bring your own, you can only bring enough food and non-alcohol beverages for a party of you (one), and outside alcohol is not allowed. So you can bring your sandwich, but don't bring a party platter. You can bring a can of soda, but not a can of beer.

  • Yes! People of all ages are welcome. We do encourage you to check our events calendar to ensure the music, film showing or other planned event is something you would like your children to attend.

  • Dogs, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed in the Terrace or inside Memorial Union but are permitted on the path alongside the Terrace. There are tables and chairs there throughout Terrace season for you to enjoy. All dogs, including service dogs, may be asked to leave if the dog poses a direct threat to health and safety, such as biting or aggressive barking. Please note that, by law, emotional support animals are not considered service animals and, therefore, are only permitted on the path alongside the Terrace. We look forward to seeing your canine companions on the path along Lake Mendota!

  • Both the Memorial Union Terrace and nearby Memorial Union are accessible.

We are committed to having accessible, welcoming spaces. Accessibility investments made during our last renovations include but are not limited to: adding a ramp on the second floor between central and east wings, adding an elevator to the west wing, reconstructing the walkway between central and theater wings, adding an entrance on Langdon Street with direct access to theater and Terrace, adding wheelchair-accessible bathrooms near theater, modifying all door widths to accommodate wheelchairs, adding ramps to the Terrace, raising the grade of the Terrace’s east end to meet the first floor of the building, and raising the grade of the Terraces west end to be level with Park Street. We hope you visit us soon.

  • We appreciate your help in creating a safe, enjoyable experience for all by following our patron code of conduct and Terrace rules. Click here to read our patron code of conduct and Terrace rules.
