The Wisconsin Union employs over a thousand student employees each semester in a multitude of roles, providing real-world experience for their next career step. You'll find our amazing students working behind the cash register at Der Rathskeller, setting up for weddings or conferences in Great Hall, answering calls at the front desk of the Wisconsin Union hotel and so much more. Because our spaces wouldn't be the same without their dedicated work, we've set up a way to share our appreciation with them: the Student Employee Advisory Group (SEAG).
What is SEAG?
SEAG is an organization for students by students that aims to open, foster and maintain communication and positive relations between student employees, permanent staff, management, and student volunteers. SEAG sponsors many student employment appreciation initiatives annually, including meal coupons, graduation gifts, employee(s) of the month programs and more. Our student employees are invited to join SEAG, which meets monthly during the fall and spring semesters to share ideas and collectively make plans for recognizing our student employees.
If you are a current student employee and want to get involved, please reach out to: seag@union.wisc.edu.
How can you support student employees?
Did you know that Wisconsin State employees (students and staff), cannot accept tips? Instead, we invite you to donate to the Employee Recognition Fund in one of two ways: online or at any of our dining locations. You'll find donation boxes near cash registers at all Union dining locations. Your donation supports all student employees, whether they're working front-line or behind-the-scenes with:
- Student benefits and rewards for all employees, such as coupons for a free meal at our dining locations!
- Student Employee of the Month awards
- Employee recognition celebrations
