The iconic, outdoor Madison destination, called the Memorial Union Terrace, reopens for the 2022 Terrace season on April 13 when the Wisconsin Union team brings back hundreds of green, yellow and orange chairs with a sunburst design to the Terrace.

The Memorial Union Terrace includes more than 40,000 square feet of accessible outdoor entertainment. The chairs’ return process begins on April 13, and the team expects their return to continue for two to three days at the Terrace. 

Science educator and television personality Bill Nye has fought for more than 30 years to raise awareness of climate change, and he’s shining a light on that global warming crisis at the University of Wisconsin–Madison as part of a free Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) Committee-hosted talk and Q&A on April 25 at 7 p.m.

People will have multiple opportunities to experience the talent of Renée Fleming as the world-renowned soprano, educator and advocate for health and well-being takes up residency at UW–Madison for three days leading up to her performance in the Wisconsin Union Theater's Shannon Hall on April 30. Tickets for all events featuring Fleming will become available on March 1 at 2 p.m. CST.

George Hinchliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain will celebrate the joys of the ukulele when it performs in Shannon Hall at Memorial Union on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. The all-strumming and all-singing Orchestra members will reimagine musical classics during the fun-filled performance.

Distinguished trumpet soloist Pacho Flores will guest solo with the University of Wisconsin–Madison Symphony Orchestra (UWSO) during a night of world-class music on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. 

Flores and UWSO will perform in the Mead Witter Foundation Concert Hall at the Hamel Music Center as part of the 2021-22 Wisconsin Union Theater Concert Series, supported in part by the Mead Witter School of Music. 

Activist and former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning will speak about her fight for transgender rights, data privacy, public service ethics, and government transparency during a Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) Committee Q&A on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in Shannon Hall at Memorial Union

The Outdoor UW team at the Wisconsin Union will soon debut a program open to all and for every level of outdoor adventurer, called the Outdoor Explorer Series by Outdoor UW.
