Hoofer Winter Carnival 2015 promises fun for everyone.
February 2-8, 2015: Memorial Union & Union South, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Rail Jam is Saturday 2/7 starting at 5:00 p.m.
The Wisconsin Union is bundling up for one of our favorite events of the year--Hoofers Winter Carnival!
This annual Carnival is a week long series of events that offers students and community members the chance to embrace the best of winter activities.
The Carnival runs from February 2-8 at various times and locations on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Highlights include the ever-popular snowboard and skiing Rail Jam on Observatory Hill, horse-drawn carriage rides, free ice skating, pond hockey tournaments and many more events and activities both indoors and out.
These free events, sponsored by Hoofers, are intended for UW-Madison students, Wisconsin Union members and guests and faculty/staff. The complete schedule is listed below and can be found at the Wisconsin Hoofers website.
Monday 2/2: Bonfire at Picnic Point (via snowshoeing or cross country skiing across Lake Mendota)
Tuesday 2/3: “Miracle” in The Marquee – Free popcorn and drink for anyone wearing flannel or Hoofer gear.
Wednesday 2/4: Horse-drawn Carriage Rides on UW-Madison Campus
Thursday 2/5: Fundraiser for Clean Lakes Alliance at The Nitty Gritty
Friday 2/6: Free Ice Skating at the Shell and 3-on-3 Pond Hockey Tournament
Saturday 2/7: SNS Rail Jam, 3-on-3 Pond Hockey Tournament, Gingerbread Barn Marking, Snowkiting Demo, Broomball tournament (free chili)
Rider registration for the Rail Jam at Observatory Hill is at 3:30 p.m. The competition starts at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday 2/8: 3-on-3 Pond Hockey Tournament

Winter Carnival is co-sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Madison Rec Sports and the Wisconsin Union Directorate.
The Rail Jam is presented by DOC 360. Prize donations by Virtika Outerwear. Event is funded in part by ASM in a viewpoint neutral manner. Students can request disability accommodations at diversity@asm.wisc.edu.
The six Wisconsin Hoofers Clubs hold one thing in common—they get outside and ‘hoof it’—meaning getting somewhere under their own power. Hoofers offers outdoor recreation activities for all abilities as well as opportunities to gain valuable leadership experiences and employment. Hoofers is a part of the Wisconsin Union Directorate in the Division of Social Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
