corrections posterThe Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee will host an exhibition called “Corrections” by Zora Murff in Memorial Union’s Class of 1925 Gallery March 3-April 24.

“Corrections” is a photography series inspired by Murff’s work monitoring youths on probation for Linn County Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services in Iowa.

Murff has said that the series examines youths’ experiences in the juvenile corrections system, the role images play in defining someone who is deemed a criminal, and how the concepts of privacy and control may affect these youths’ futures.

“This is such an influential series of photographs,” said Haley Fuhr, WUD Art associate director of marketing. “The images provide an honest, thought-provoking look into the lives of young people in the criminal justice system.”

WUD Art will host an opening reception for the exhibition March 3 from 6-8 p.m. The Committee invites University of Wisconsin-Madison students, staff, faculty and Wisconsin Union members and their guests to attend the exhibition debut event.

WUD Art is a student-run committee that manages all aspects of exhibitions, from artist selection and installation to marketing efforts. Committee members also program shows in the Wisconsin Union’s two galleries: the Class of 1925 Gallery in Memorial Union and Gallery 1308 in Union South.
