Oct. 14-16
The annual UW Family Weekend is quickly approaching and packed full of fun events! Stop by Memorial Union and Union South to check out some of our favorite places to grab a bite to eat, enjoy the views from the Terrace, and close out the family celebration on Oct. 16 with a jazz concert by vibraphonist Joel Ross and his band Good Vibes.
Joel Ross Good Vibes: Sunday, Oct. 16 | 7:30 p.m. in the Play Circle at Memorial Union
Vibraphonist and composer Joel Ross will fill the intimate Play Circle with the sounds of his electric mallets on vibes. Save on tickets when you bring the whole family with $20 youth tickets (17 and under) and $12 UW–Madison student tickets! You can find more information and tickets here.
Food for the Whole Family at Memorial Union
Now picture this: You want pizza, someone else in your group wants a burger, and everyone wants a different flavor of ice cream. At the Wisconsin Union's Memorial Union and Union South, that is entirely possible, and all in the same location.
For the coffee lover: stop at Peet’s Coffee for a hot drink and pastries.
We all scream for ice cream: everyone in the family can enjoy a scoop of Babcock Ice Cream at the Daily Scoop!
For all your snacking needs: browse Badger Market for on-the-go snacks (including house-made and locally made options), drinks, and even a few souvenirs.
Wisconsin Union’s unique spin on the classic German beer hall: at der Rathskeller, you can enjoy craft sandwiches, burgers, and of course, cheese curds.
A pizza-lovers dream: at Strada, you can create your own personalized wood-fired pizza and mouth watering pasta bowls.
If fresh ingredients and feel-good food is your priority: check out Carte for colorful salads and house-made sandwiches.
Plus, join us on the Memorial Union Terrace, home to one of the best views on campus. Don’t forget to take a photo with our Big Terrace chair!
Something to Snack on for Everyone at Union South
Stop by South Cantina for Southwest-inspired food. Those who are craving Asian fusion food can grab a bite from Ginger Root. Enjoy a hot drink at Prairie Fire with a tapas bar around the corner, and fulfill your cheese curd needs at the Sett - the formal name for a badger’s den. And of course, you can head to Badger Market for a wide selection of grab-n-go items and the Daily Scoop for ice cream and other desserts at Union South, as well.
We are so excited to welcome you and your whole family!
