In its 80th year, this festival has become a Madison tradition since it began in 1940 that provides free and low-cost ways to enjoy the outdoors and some indoor recreation activities and to celebrate winter.

The Wisconsin Union team invites all members of the community, including UW-Madison staff, faculty and students as well as Wisconsin Union members and guests, to experience the 80th Winter Carnival.

The majority of events made possible by Wisconsin Union Directorate and Hoofers student leaders at the Wisconsin Union. These leaders organize, promote and execute thousands of events throughout the year, including cultural events and outdoor recreation.

“We are excited to share more details about the Festival in the coming months,” Wisconsin Union’s Outdoor UW Director Joe Webb said. “Mark the Carnival on your calendars, and join us in February 2020 for can’t-miss, outdoor fun for the whole family.”

Current Winter Carnival community partners include the Clean Lakes Alliance and University Recreation and Wellbeing.

More details about Winter Carnival, including the full schedule of events and activities, will be made available at union.wisc.edu/wintercarnival.
