WUD Art invites artists' submissions for exhibition regarding president's first 100 days in office

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee invites Madison area artists to submit artwork for the Committee’s exhibition “FIRST 100 DAYS”.
The exhibition will feature artwork that portrays artists’ reactions to President Donald J. Trump’s first 100 days in office.
The common practice of assessing a U.S. president’s performance after 100 days of presidency inspired WUD Art to create this exhibit. Committee members believe the artwork will provide community members an opportunity to reflect upon and discuss the current political climate.
WUD Art encourages artists from across the political spectrum to submit work for consideration. The Committee also aims to represent a variety of art forms, such as visual art, poetry, creative writing, performance art, and hands-on art creation activities.
Submissions will be judged on various criteria including artistic merit, appropriateness of qualifications for the exhibition theme, and the utilization of conceptual skills with innovative and effective approaches.
Judges will also focus on the artworks’ relevance to social, environmental, historical and related contexts as well as their ability to be thought-provoking through artistic expression.
There is no submission fee, but each artist is limited to one submission. All submissions are due by April 1 at 11:59 p.m.
The exhibition will take place in Gallery 1308 in Union South on April 29 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., which is President Trump’s 100th day in office.
“I hope the exhibit’s visitors learn about art as a tool of activism and that they are exposed to diverse political opinions,” said Yusi Liu, director of WUD Art. “I want it to be thought-provoking to students, members and those visiting campus.”
