Now entering its third decade, the acclaimed Brentano String Quartet has delighted audiences around the world with its versatile range of repertoire, and its Wisconsin Union Theater performance promises the same. Hear Haydn’s String Quartet in D Major, Op. 71, No. 2, from the composer’s famous “London” quartets, along with Schubert’s final string quartet, the grand String Quartet in G Major, Op. 161, D. 887. In addition, two contemporary works by Bruce Adolphe and Steve Mackey from the Brentano Quartet’s Bach Perspectives Project draw inspiration from Bach’s The Art of the Fugue, recontextualizing the 18th-century masterpiece for today’s contemporary world.
